sculptural jewellery
Conch Collection
This collection was designed specifically for the ‘Irish Fashion Innovation awards’, in which I was invited to participate, in 2016.
I wanted to explore a sense of freedom and sensuality around the female body, using materials that I already had collected over the years. I decide to combine natural objects contrasting with cool metals and nylon fishing lines which catch the light with movement.
I had lots of fun forging the metals and inventing ways of joining the shells to the main structures! Accepting this invitation gave me a challenge to create something really innovative and allowed me to express my love for sculptural jewellery.
My adored Grandmother had passed away 3 months before the final night, and I wanted to pull out of the show but instead I could feel her spirit encouraging me, so I decided to do it in memory of her (Nanou these ones are for you).
These pieces are for sale (P.O.A) but may also be hired for photo shoots etc.
To Commission a piece in similar style, please contact me to discuss.
The photo shoot was then co-created with Valentina The Black Pearl professional model-come photographer.
This year, bored during lock down, we decided, as things semi- opened up, to do the shoot. I did the body paint and Valentina self shot and modelled. I was so delighted with the outcome. It felt like a true expression of the pieces.
